THE SOUQ

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA

The Heritage Souq is modeled on authentic Najd architectural principles, aimed at creating the character of a pre‑existing community. The design present as a small village with good quality public realm, shop units, food and beverage outlets with ancillary seating and picnic spaces surrounding the scheme. The central square of the village includes the mosque and a number of primary F&B outlets. The surrounding street pattern 'tightens' in LEGACY with historic precedent to accommodate a broad range of connectional retail outlets which may include stalls. The outer perimeter of the village returns to a theme of food and beverage outlets in order to serve the surrounding picnic and seating sites.
